CLINICAL PATHOLOGY LABORATORY was established on 1st May 1975 with basic aim to fulfill the diagnostic needs of patients and clinicians of the town and the adjacent areas. We have completed almost 40 years of establishment, devotion and service to the people in 2014. To fulfill our commitments we have from time to time made continued efforts to update our self by adopting latest technology and equipments in the lab and observing strict quality control to provide the best quality results to the patients.
By virtue of our repeated outstanding performance in National External Quality Assurance Programme of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists for years together, our laboratory was given a rare status of Reference Laboratory IAPM-NEQAP. Since 2005 our lab is participating in quality assurance programme of VILAC with a consistently high performance including Histopathology & cytology. ISO 9001-2000 certificate was also awarded to the lab.
In process of development the HORMONE CENTRE was launched at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory with installation of AIA-600 Hormone autoanalyser.On this occasion a reference Guide on Hormones & other special tests was also published.
Sending samples outside may be an easy proposition but definitely has it‘s lacunae. Most hormones require very strict temperature conditions for appropriate quantitative analysis and accuracy of results. For this a cold chain to the extent of freezing temperature of- 20C is required to be maintained. Most of the hormones are not stable for more than 1 day even at the temperature between 20-25 C. This type of cold chain and desired temperature is usually not maintained by the transport agencies, hence certain fallacies in the results are bound to occur.
To do away with these fallacies and provide daily and quick reporting for most of the hormones to the patients, we have also introduced two Hormone Analyzers AIA-360 and MINIVIDAS at the hormone centre of our lab with a wider range of test menu.
Development is a continuous process . In the same perspective the laboratory has been reshaped to a totally modern setup at DR ASHOK’S PATH LAB with desired environment for the tests & equipment for better accuracy. Many new automated equipment & auto analyzers have also been installed now enjoying a status of full automation in all specialties of pathology in our lab.
Keeping in view to adopt latest technology & automation in microbiology too parallel to any large lab or hospital of the country we got installation of fully automated VITEK 2 for identification of bacteria & drug sensitivity and BACTALERT 3D for rapid blood & fluid culture. These equipment will help the clinicians in targeted antibiotic therapy to prevent treatment failures by reducing a common problem of emerging antibiotic resistance against the organisms with the help of advanced expert system.
